Testing the @Blackberry #Bold9900 (First impression/unboxing)

Earlier today I received a Blackberry Bold 9900 that RIM has asked me to review for them…. Obviously I jumped at the chance to do so! Now when I first encountered this device, it was in Orlando Florida and running OS6.5, then again at the OS7 Release party in Toronto, and I was impressed each time. Now I haven’t done anything really special with the device yet, short of unbox it and begin the device switch. Right now I would like to mention the unboxing and my first (or third really) impressions.

So when I opened the Box, I saw my beautiful new 9900 device staring at me.. it was a magical moment for the both of us. That aside, I was pleased with the package RIM has provided with the Bold. It comes with the USB transfer cable/charger, a cleaning cloth (which I have one of already and love) a rather nice leather holster, your normal documentation, headphones, and what I think are meant to be screen protectors… but are much too small… hmm.

Since typing the above, I have completed the device switch wizard with only one minor glitch (App world had to be deleted from both devices or it wouldn’t complete the restore) and began use. Once I setup my icons and panels how I wanted them, I sent a Broadcast BBM message to make sure all my contacts restored…. Neglecting to add a “Do Not Reply” to the message. So now I am currently speaking with 73 of 104 people. The good news is that there is NO LAG! I find this rather impressive as I have 3 BBM groups on top of this, my Torch 9800 had some issues with this, but not the 9900! The keyboard is heavenly and the touchscreen is crisp, clear, and responsive. So far… I am in love. The only issues I am having in the interim are getting my App World to connect to the server, and get a new BBM Music key sent to me… More on these developments later… Now I must PLAY!.
